Hoogtij # 19

One location, twelve designers. During Hoogtij #19, LAP t/m brought together artists of different disciplines. The surprising works of students and former students of the KABK meet in a group exhibition that’s on the border of fashion, textiles and art. The result is an exciting mix of fabrics, jewellry, painting, 3d, film and fashion.

Residence de la mode @ LAP t/m

LAP t/m has been part of Residence de la mode, the parcours of the Dutch Fashion Awards.

Circuit is an installation of interior and four garments, in which beams are both a metaphor and a visual connection element. In the garments, you can see the wavy shape in the form of pleats, ribbons and a round cut. In the room this is reflected with digital prints and three-dimensional shapes against the walls. Like a circuit. The viewer is looking at a colourful, playful landscape.

Circuit is a collaboration between Neeltje Schoenmaker, Lidewij Corstiaans and Annemarije van Harten. Three designers graduated from the KABK in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In their own work they use the same colours and materials, fluid shapes and a playful character: therfore a collaboration was a logical step.

The 3D-installation is movable and can be set in every location.

“Inspiring Culture” is an exhibition of the historical and ethnic costumes of selected students of the fashion and textile department of the KABK: Geo Timmermans, Lotte Mostert, Marjolijn Damhuis, Evelien van benthem, Natasja Admiraal, Amber Scholten, Geanne Welles, Janneke Lemmers, Wies Preijde, Lidewij Corstiaans.

Textile and fashion students @ Zeeuws Museum

Fashion show KABK

On june 11th the annual fashionshow took place. A big white plastic church was built on the terrain of the academy in which the show would take place. There were three shows: 6pm, 8pm and 10 pm. Of course the fashionstudents who also participate in LAP t/m showed there fashioncollections of 2008/2009.

Today was the first day of the group exhibition of all 2nd and 3rd year textile design students. Our exhibition is part of the textile- and fashion route through the citycenter of the Hague. Normally only graduates present their collections in this route, but this year textile design students of all years join for the first time. In LAPt/m we set up 14 presentations with as only connection that it contains a closet. With this concept it was possible to bring such diverse collections together in one exhibition space.

Opening LAPt/m expo#1: LAParty

April 9th LAPt/m finally opened it’s doors. The opening was a combination of an exhibition and a party. All the displayeds work had something to do with party: food, balloons, partypictures etc. Everything was white, because LAPt/m was still a ” blank page.”

After speeches of Marieke Bolle(cultural departmant commune of the hague) and Jack Verduyn(Director of the Royal Academy of Arts) it was time to celebrate the start of LAPt/m, the new gallery in the citycenter of the Hague set up by the commune of the Hague, the Royal Academy of Arts and 8 textile- and fashiondesign students.
